Bill wanted the biggest shed possible
Bill Hennessey wanted a shed. But not just any shed. He wanted the biggest one possible.
Bill’s problem was that he had a car, a trailer, and several pieces of equipment that were living outside. He wanted to get them under roof. What he really needed was a second garage.
As he considered his options, he thought about building a garage himself. He knew he could do it – after all, he’d built his own house some years ago. But knowing how much work was involved, he really liked the idea of ready-made storage, something that could be dropped off at his property and put right to use.
Settling on Breezy Acres Sheds in Auburn, NY
Having decided a course of action, the Hennesseys started looking at various shed suppliers. His wife, originally from Auburn, knew about Breezy Acres Sheds because of their location along Grant Avenue, a couple miles north of town. She liked what she saw in the lot, and they decided to go for a visit. Bill was impressed and felt that the sheds were nicely made and were reasonably priced.
Shed design software helps Bill choose his options
Lamar Witmer, the owner, guided them through the selection process. As far as styles went, Bill didn’t have to think too hard – he just wanted the biggest one they had. He chose the Workshop model when he learned that the widest sheds are 14’ across, and that they can be ordered up to 40’ long. He was surprised something so big could be delivered – “I had my doubts,” he said. But Lamar assured him it could be done.
As they sat in the office, Lamar used his shed design software to show them how their shed would look with different options. As they tried different concepts, the 3-D imagery on the screen helped solidify the decision. In the end, the Hennesseys opted for a tan-colored shed with overhead doors at both ends and, on the front, a pair of pre-hung doors framed by two windows.
Preparing the site for delivery day
The Hennesseys have several acres, so they had room for a large shed. Still, it takes space to move and position something this big. Before delivery day, Bill made sure that he had a level gravel pad in place. He also removed a few tree limbs that would have interfered with the delivery.
Shed delivery day
The Hennesseys live about 30 miles from Breezy Acres, but delivery was surprisingly easy, and since Breezy Acres offers free delivery within 40 miles, it didn’t cost a penny.
It had rained a lot in the days before delivery, so the ground was a little soft. But Jesse Witmer, Lamar’s son, had no problem installing the shed. Bill was impressed with his skill as a driver and operator, and was also thankful for the help he gave in moving some additional objects out of the path of the shed.
The specialized delivery trailer also caught Bill’s eye. He was impressed with its hydraulic features and how it could be used to put the shed in just the right place. (The stone pad was large, but even so, there wasn’t much margin for error.) Jesse used the trailer to lift various edges of the shed so that the shed itself could be adjusted and placed perfectly level on the pad.
When everything was perfect, Bill stepped back to enjoy his instant storage — all 560 square feet of it.
Positive results all around
The Hennesseys have had the shed for a couple of weeks now, and they’re happy. With the overhead doors at both ends, Bill can drive all the way through, even with his pickup. This makes it easy for him to maneuver the different equipment he keeps inside. Not only are his things safe from the elements, they are also safely hidden away and pleasingly out of sight.
When asked, he couldn’t think of anything negative about his experience with Breezy Acres Sheds. He has nothing but good to say about the people and the quality of their products. He appreciates how relatable everyone is, explaining that they are helpful, friendly, funny, and that they answer all your questions. Speaking of Lamar, Bill said, “I could call him now and I’m sure he’d call right back.”
