An Extra Garage in Three Days

John Craven likes vehicles. And they must like him too, because they seem to multiply on his property. John already had a good bit of garage space for his vehicles, but when he recently needed more, he started looking at options. In the end, he purchased a 14×30 Workshop Garage from Breezy Acres.

Discovering Breezy Acres

When he first thought of adding a garage, John considered building one. But, with a potential move in his future, the idea of buying something he could take with him made more sense.

Once John settled on a pre-built garage, he hit the road for the Breezy Acres lot in Auburn. Since the lot is just a few minutes from home, he’d been by many times before–but this time he had a goal in mind.

As he walked the lot, he appreciated that so many models were on display and that their doors were open. He enjoyed this chance to look closely and think without the pressure of a salesman at his side. The brochures he found inside the sheds helped answer his initial questions.

Choosing a Model

Once he had a good idea of what he wanted, John called the number on his brochure and spoke with Lamar Witmer, the owner of Breezy Acres. John enjoyed speaking with Lamar during this first phone call and throughout the process. He found him “a very informative guy; a really nice gentleman.”

As they talked, Lamar told John that Breezy Acres was a family-owned business. As someone who values and likes to support small businesses, John connected with the warm, intergenerational atmosphere.

John opted for the 14×30 Workshop Garage that he had seen on the lot. He especially liked that it had the metal roof upgrade. He thought its black color would work especially well for shedding snow. If he’d been in the mood to wait 4-6 weeks for a custom order, he would have picked another color scheme. But John was eager for the storage, so he was happy enough to go with the in-stock model.

Delivery in Three Days

John knew he’d come to the right place when he found out how soon Breezy Acres could deliver the garage. Lamar told him his son Jesse typically made deliveries but was out of town. He gave John the option of waiting until Jesse was back or having Brian, another son, make the delivery. He told John that Brian was competent but did not have as much experience as Jesse.

Feeling he could trust this family-operated company, John asked Lamar if he’d taught him well. “Yes,” Lamar told him. “Well, then he’ll be fine,” John replied.

He got the needed funds to Lamar on a Friday, and his garage was delivered the following Monday. Looking back, John said that—knowing Lamar—if he’d gotten the funds to Breezy Acres on Friday morning, he probably could have had his shed by that afternoon.

On delivery day, everything went smoothly, even though Brian was filling in for Jesse. John said Brian took his time and wasn’t in a rush—John’s confidence in Lamar’s teaching skills was well-placed.

Prior to his purchase, John had leveled out a large section of his property and covered it with stone, so he had a foundation that was more than adequate. But in order for Brian to deliver it, he would need to back his specialized delivery trailer at a 45-degree angle to the pad. This involved maneuvering between a three-foot retaining wall and two cars that were parked for the winter, giving him just a foot of clearance on either side. Once he had the trailer in place, Brian used the trailer’s special feature (a movable axle that allows the trailer to “walk” sideways) to set and position the garage.

Overall thoughts

John has been pleased with his whole Breezy Acres experience. He had price-shopped early on but found that most shed companies were comparable. With that information, he felt that the atmosphere and service of Breezy Acres made him want to support this family-owned business. Looking back (especially on the delivery), he feels his initial trust was well placed.

He said there was only one hiccup in the process, and it came after the garage had been delivered. Several days after the garage was in place, his township sent a note telling him he had failed to get a permit. He took immediate action, and the township cooperated.

He later learned that Breezy Acres has information about permits on their website, but he hadn’t visited the website since he already knew about the company. Neither did the topic come up in conversations with Lamar. (To avoid this in the future, Breezy Acres is adding a short pre-purchase checklist to its shed brochures.)

All in all, purchasing the 14×30 Workshop Garage from Breezy Acres was a smooth and enjoyable experience. The family business feel, pressure-free browsing, and quality workmanship gave John the garage solution he needed.

Now, every time it snows, he knows that his special vehicles are well protected—and he’s happy to watch every time that snow slides off his metal roof.
